This 4-day hike takes us through a truly unusual circuit, hidden between the Vilcanota Mountain Range, at the foot of the majestic Apu Ausangate. Explore the heights on a walk that will be smooth and pleasant at times, but that will also require your effort. Escape the tourist crowds and connect with nature in absolute tranquility. You won’t regret it.

Day 1: Cusco - Upis

The first day we’ll leave Cusco very early for our three-hour trip in a private vehicle to the small village of Tinqui (3.800m). We will go by beautiful landscapes and several traditional villages as Urcos, Cattca and Ocongate. After lunch we begin to walk through beautiful mountain landscapes with great views of Ausangate. We walk for an average of 4 hours to reach the hot springs in Upis (4.400m). In this place we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Upis - Pukaqocha

Early in the morning, we will wake you up with nice coca tea, and then after a big breakfast, we will get started on our hike. We will climb to the Arapa Pass at ana altitude of 4.850m. From this vantage point, we will enjoy the contrast between dry desert-like hills and breathtaking snow-capped views of Mt. Ausangate and Pukaqocha. This area also boasts three beautiful lakes with tones of reds, greens, and turquoise (Pukaqocha, Hatun Pukaqocha, and Qomercocha). Our second campsite is close to Ausangate glacier.

Day 3: Pukaqocha - Soraycucho

We cross the highest pass on our trip, Palomani (5.200m) with a spectacular view of the southeastern ridge of Ausangate.

Day 4: Soraycucho - Pacchanta - Cusco

Today the route is littered with natural beauty; like: deep valleys, alpacas, llamas, and vicuñas being kept in their original natural environment, and if lucky the rare andean condor will be seen. The trail descends towards the village of Pacchanta where for enthusiasts, hot springs are available. After lunch we return home.
